Dance-Konnection is a dance organization that was orginally formed by Gail Johnson and Stacye Mooring in 2009 to promote the art of dancing in Pensacola, Florida. In 2010, Vernon Watson and Gail Johnson formed Dance-Konnection, Inc, a non-profit organization to teach and promote various dance styles to include Urban Ballroom, Swing styles, and Line dances.
Gail and Dance-Konnection started holding classes and teaching Detroit
style Urban Ballroom dance lessons on Thursday nights. Dance-Konnection has added a Line Dance class on Monday Nights at the Marie K. Young Wedgewood Center, and now also teaches Dallas Fort Worth Style (DFW) Swing, Old School Swing-out, and Chicago Style Steppin' dance classes. All classes except Line dance is taught at Dance Konnection's Studio 61. Gail Johnson is the Primary Instructor and is assisted by Vernon Watson, Richard E. Miller, Meghan Cooper, Jonnell Stallworth, Joe Ann Evans, Simone Elliott, Charles Shoemo, Tony Anderson, and Kasha Brown.
Ethel "Gail" Johnson is the owner and Primary Instructor of Dance-Konnection. Gail has been dancing since she was 3 years old, and has attended the Arthur Murray School of Dance and the Pensacola Ballroom Studio. She has also attended numerous dance workshops throughout the country, and was introduced to Urban Ballroom dancing while taking classes with North 2 South Dance Connection. She became an expert Urban Ballroom Dancer under instructions of Kevin "Flash" Collins of Detriot, MI. Gail has won several dance contests, including first place in the 2013 Pensacola Swing-out contest with partner Tommy English. She and partner Pratt McCasket won second prize in the Mobile, Alabama Swing Out dance contest in 2011. Dancing is not just a pastime for Gail, it's her life's passion!
Vernon Watson is the Co-owner and Business Manager of Dance-Konnection, Inc. Vernon holds a B.S. and Master's degrees in Business Management and has more than 40 years of Human Resource (HR) Management experience. Vernon also serves as a dance coach and an assistant instructor for Dance-Konnection. He also attended the Arthur Murray School of Dance.
